The Draft Room

uncle-sam.jpg

This room was used for the selective service office for Clayton County. The space was opened during World War II for the purpose of drafting young men to the military. The draft was discontinued in 1973 and the room had not been used since that time.

The room now has been reborn into a relaxing suite. Because of its history as the Selective Service office, the cozy and serene facility is decorated in military motif. Pictures of soldiers and memorabilia from various American wars adorn the walls and window sills.

Military and Naval uniforms hang on a wooden hall tree.

With stone walls two foot thick, the window sills are a perfect spot for display. Each window overlooks the Turkey River.

If you wish to leave behind a picture or memorabilia to add to the room; please let us know. We will proudly display your item.
